23.4% of us and still growing
Well it’s not growing that fast, according to the latest figures published by the INEI. In fact, the population connected to internet has only increased by 3.5% in urban area, and now 23.4% of households is connected. Those numbers aren’t really a surprise, when we know that 64.7% of the population is still using internet-cabins to connect. Unsurprisingly also, the group of 25+ is the most active with 36.5% using internet at home. At last 33.4% of the population declare to use Internet at least once a week. So what to think about those numbers, when some countries declare Internet as a right?

Our experience of the last Lima Valley event
It’s funny how things happen sometimes. On that Friday morning we had our weekly meeting, where we share our progress of the current week, and plan the to-do list for the upcoming week.
My partner Christian (The Dane) mentioned this website about Internet entrepreneurship in Lima, called Lima Valley. After a quick visit on their website, we found out that they were organizing a presentation the very same day.
We instantly decided to email the guys to see if we could attend, but they were probably too busy at arranging the final touch of the event to answer us. Thanks to Twitter as a great tool of communication, we managed to get in touch with them.
Why We Are Starting BusinessPeru
When I first met with Christian (the Dane), it became clear that apart the passion for Internet, we also shared a passion for entrepreneurship. It’s wasn’t long before we started talking about our experiences in Peru, and obviously ended up talking about our individual ideas for starting business here in Peru.
Surprisingly (or not) we realized that all of our ideas were merging into one single interest: to help promoting local businesses online.
Even though the communication infrastructure and the internet access in Peru is growing pretty fast, there is still lots to do in that field. Some people are still not convinced that Internet could help them to make more business. Others simply doesn’t know how and where to start. I’m always very surprised to see how many local businesses are using @hotmail.com or @gmail.com email addresses as business emails.
But back to the main question: How we could help local businesses to jump into the internet world? How we could help them to generate more revenue?
5 Reasons to Stop Using Flash on Your Website
Since the early days of 2000, where my internet career started, I have always had my hurdle with Flash designers. While I always have agreed that Flash can be a useful tool, many web designers have misunderstood the use of Flash, and started making Full-Flash pages, crazy animation and sounds, and in general just misusing this tool. Unfortunately I noticed Peru isn’t exempt from such a situation. If you are interested in making a successful online presence for your company (or maybe are a developer yourself), you should read on to get 5 reasons to stop using Flash.
